Wellesley Road, Sheerness, Kent. Detailed planning consent has been approved for a new development at the former Old Ambulance Station in Wellesley Road, Sheerness, consisting of six three storey two bedroom town houses, with undercroft parking. Sheerness is the "capital" of the Isle of Sheppey. The location of these homes is close to the town centre, dominated by its splendid cast iron town clock built in 1902 to commemorate the Coronation of Edward VII. Here there is a pedestrianised shopping area and a selection of around 200 shops including both small retailers and many well known chains. There is a busy market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Also nearby is the seafront at Marine Parade. This area, and Bluetown, the former Admiralty Dockyard, are popular with visitors. Sheerness beach has the European Blue Flag Award. Sheerness has a railway station with trains around every half-an-hour connecting with the main line at Sittingbourne, and with a journey time of around 90 minutes to London Victoria. ![]() ![]() ![]() Front view (artist impression) Rear view (artist impression) |
